peterborough Regional FARMERS’ MARKET

A main project of the Network is the Peterborough Regional Farmers’ Market (PRFM), with a summer and winter location in Peterborough’s downtown core. The PRFM is a verified Farmers' Market where all farm vendors have gone through a third party inspection process to verify they grow 100% of the food they sell. Primary producers make up sixty percent of the market; the remaining forty percent include bakers, prepared food vendors, artists and community groups. The PRFM is committed to a festive market atmosphere, community building, inclusion, sustainability and farmer empowerment.

Peterborough Wednesday Farmers’ Market

The Peterborough Wednesday Farmers’ Market (PWFM) operates on the newly renovated courtyard at Peterborough Square (Charlotte and Water). The summer season for PWFM begins on Wednesday May 5th - the market runs from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

We’ve introduced hand sanitizer stations, traffic flow, signage prompting best practices, promotion of pre order/pick up and appropriate physical distancing between vendors and customers.

verified Farmer Banners

In 2017, the Network unveiled a new banner system that farmers can use to help their customers locate primary producers who grow 100% of what they sell at the farmers' market. Our banners indicate the farm’s distance from market; town; township; and third party verification. Look for these banners and get to you know Peterborough area farmers.

If you are interested in signing up for a banner, please contact Josh Blank jb.joshblank@gmail.com

Farmers’ Market Improvement Guide: Resources for Revitalizing Ontario’s Farmers’ Markets

In January 2019, the Network released a Farmers’ Market Improvement Guide. The Guide was prepared by Melissa Johnston, M.A., and was made possible through the generous support of the National Farmers Union Local 345 and the Carrot Cache. The Guide draws on Johnston’s own research, as well as information and support from the Greenbelt Farmers Market Network and Farmers’ Markets Ontario. The Guide will be available for purchase soon, here.
